1910 portrait of two young boys

This wonderful moment of two young boys posing for a portrait was photographed around 1910 possibly by Arthur Phillips. It is part of the Phillips collection that was acquired by the Museum in the 1980s and appears to have been made by a Sydney based photographic studio from around 1880 through to 1920. This is a small collection of glass-plate negatives and a rather unique one in relation to the subject matter. A number of the themes covered in this collection include leisure scenes, the performing arts such as the unusual boxing and fencing photographs, stage sets and performers, as well as sailing and portrait photos. One of these is a rare composite negative intended for producing Christmas greeting cards.
