Opening of La Conservera, contemporary art center in Ceutí (Murcia) – Spain
Opening on May 16, 2009
The opening of La Conservera, a new centre devoted to contemporary art in Ceutí, will be held on May 16, 2009. La Conservera, which takes its name from the former use of the building as a tinning factory, has been renovated according to a project by the architect Fernando de Retes, who devised a flexible design consisting of four exhibition halls of remarkable dimensions, each of which is different and with its own style (4,800 m2).
The programme will comprise various series of four exhibitions shown simultaneously. The first of them is opening along with the centre in the month of May. This programme of temporary exhibitions produced by the centre will focus on artists from different generations who have already created interesting, solid bodies of work that are recognised by critics worldwide, yet are still risky wagers.
Each parallel exhibition series will generally include four artists who share common concerns, so that the shows complement each other in a continuous logical way. This will enable analysing the same concepts from different points of view.
