Interaction between Art, Science, Technology and Society in Spanish Digital Culture
banquete_nodos y redes addresses the emerging trans-disciplinary dynamics of current art practices in Spain.
Through more than thirty digital and interactive art projects, the exhibition establishes a set of critical reflections and participatory experiences for exploring networks as common patterns underlying the organisation of life in all its dimensions, from bacteria to telecommunication networks. Photography, video, virtual reality installations, artificial life robotic actions and participatory net.art projects afford an extensive overview that takes us from the neuronal micro-worlds to the global dynamics of digital connection in contemporary societies.

This exhibition arises from the theoretical and practical need to investigate the new conditions of Network Society and the interrelated space shaping the globalised world of the 21st century. In this context, the model that has prevailed thus far in cultural production, always based on a hegemonic centre and unquestionable axes, is giving way to a new structure of multiple nodes and networks. This organisational pattern consists of a constant flow of information, in addition to connection and dialogue within a network where each point represents a node, a viewpoint, a story. In other words, it is a new multi-centric dynamic and horizontal system of cultural production and circulation conducted in an interconnected and interdependent way, a system in which ideas and concepts, as well as subjects, entities and institutions, are all agents and catalysers of a process of social and cultural transformation.
