Internationally renowned pianist Stephen Combes will give the world premiere.

Major to Minor Pen Pals. Setting one of a series of poems created as a song cycle and commissioned specially from Jackie Kay in celebration of World Aids Day, Marc Yeats’ new work is to be premiered by the Halle Orchestra and Chorus along with soprano and baritone soloists. Uniquely, this new work and the others commissioned from a series of leading composers will be using the orchestration present in Faure’s ’Requiem’ – a work that is central to the concept of this concert and will also be performed alongside the world premieres.
